A D2L Brightspace Case Study
The University of Dallas (2,500+ learners) faced the sudden need to move all on‑campus instruction online when COVID‑19 hit. With four academic units, widespread faculty hesitation about online teaching, and a small three‑person e‑learning team, the university had to rapidly scale remote learning while keeping courses, lectures, and discussions accessible to students.
UD scaled its use of D2L’s Brightspace SaaS, built dedicated remote‑learner and faculty sites, added guidance and a virtual tutoring shell supporting 68 tutors, and relied on D2L’s 24/7 support and cloud infrastructure. As a result, courses continued without interruption, faculty quickly adopted online tools, students completed critical coursework (including displaced study‑abroad semesters), and the university expects broader, lasting adoption of online learning.
