A D2L Brightspace Case Study
Ultimate Medical Academy (UMA), a nonprofit healthcare institution serving more than 18,000 students, faced high course development costs, long production cycles, and low curriculum-team engagement. With D2L Brightspace helping support course building and learner experience, UMA needed to redesign its internal course design process to become more efficient and responsive to new curriculum needs.
Ultimate Medical Academy implemented a new course design and project management model, refined team roles, and added key positions such as project managers, editors, and quality assurance staff. With D2L Brightspace as an important tool, the changes cut course development time by 59%—from about 1,100 hours to 453 hours—and reduced course creation costs by more than 50%, while also boosting team engagement to one of the top five departments and earning an award for excellence in online programming.
