A D2L Brightspace Case Study
West Bridgford School (WBS), a high-performing 11–18 school in Nottingham with about 1,650 learners, faced sudden COVID-19 closures in spring 2020 and needed to maintain continuity of learning. The challenge was to move quickly to fully online delivery while adapting timetables and lesson plans, supporting students’ pastoral needs, and equipping teachers—many juggling home responsibilities—with the skills and tools to teach remotely.
WBS expanded its use of D2L Brightspace—adding Virtual Classrooms, Video Assignments and other building blocks—and trained over 100 staff to run live lessons, interactive forums, online assessments and pastoral activities. The school achieved 100% virtual schooling with strong student engagement, positive parent feedback, improved staff digital capability, and a library of reusable materials for future terms.
