Temple College, a community college near Austin, Texas, set out to make higher education accessible to non-traditional and underserved learners who face barriers to on-campus study. Faced with Texas’s 60x30 goals and students with limited time, travel options or digital experience, the college needed a flexible, easy-to-use solution to boost access, engagement and course completion.

By adopting D2L’s Brightspace (with the Daylight UI), integrating publisher content, and running student eLearning workshops, Temple College created a mobile-friendly, personalized online learning environment with secure instructor–student communication and discussion tools. The results: enrollment in online and blended courses rose from 3,000 to 5,800 in four years, online sections expanded from 200 to 750, 95% of courses are now online or web-enhanced, and the college saw improved student engagement, retention and completion rates.
