Case Study: MGH Institute of Health Professions achieves scalable health equity learning with D2L Brightspace

Shaping the Future of Healthcare Professionals through Education

MGH Institute of Health Professions needed a more flexible, scalable way to deliver its health equity course, “What’s the IHP’s Role in Health Equity?,” as demand grew and learning shifted online. Using D2L Brightspace, the institute sought to keep the program interactive for students, faculty, and staff while managing enrollment and discussions with a small administrative team.

D2L Brightspace helped MGH Institute of Health Professions move the course into a fully online, self-paced format with automated enrollment, discussion-group assignment, and grading support. Since the transition in 2020, the program has reached more than 3,557 learners; 87% said it changed their perspective on health equity, 93% found it useful for their goals, and confidence in defining key terms rose by 2.58 points on a 10-point scale.
