Case Study: York Technical College achieves a more accessible, engaging learner experience with D2L Brightspace

Revitalizing the Learner Experience with Innovation and Integrations

York Technical College, a public two-year institution in South Carolina, wanted to redesign its online learner experience to better support engagement, feedback, assessment quality, and accessibility across HyFlex and asynchronous courses. Working with D2L Brightspace, the college also needed to reduce manual administration and create a more inclusive, flexible learning environment for students.

D2L Brightspace helped York Technical College implement campus-wide integrations and course design improvements, including Kaltura, Creator+, ePortfolio, badges, certificates, and Brightspace-connected tools like Colleague. The results included a drop in registration/deregistration lag from six-to-twelve hours to one hour, 4,003 unique Kaltura users, 56,009 videos watched, and 525,789 minutes viewed in one year. The college also achieved a minimum 98% accessibility rating for redesigned courses, with some reaching 100%, while improving engagement and giving faculty better data to support student success.
