A D2L Brightspace Case Study
Purdue University, a public research university in West Lafayette, Indiana, faced a sudden shift to remote education as its Brightspace rollout coincided with the COVID-19 pandemic. With students and faculty adjusting to a new LMS and virtual learning environment at the same time, Purdue needed a way to help learners quickly build confidence and navigate online coursework.
Using D2L Brightspace, Purdue created Learning Online 101, a self-paced course with videos, guides, accessibility support, and completion badges to introduce students to virtual learning and university resources. D2L Brightspace helped Purdue enroll more than 57,000 learners; 95.5% of respondents said the content was helpful, and over 70% said the course objectives were achieved, while instructors gained more class time to focus on teaching instead of LMS basics.
