A D2L Brightspace Case Study
Canada’s National Ballet School (NBS), a Toronto-based institution that combines elite training with broad community programming, launched Sharing Dance to promote health and participation through dance for children, seniors and people with conditions like Parkinson’s or dementia. The challenge was to develop an easy-to-use curriculum that would engage Canadians of all ages and abilities and scale a community-based program nationwide.
NBS used D2L’s Brightspace (including Capture, analytics and surveys) to deliver multimedia lessons, demonstration videos, music and live-streamed classes so non-specialist teachers could lead sessions and NBS could monitor engagement. The approach helped grow Sharing Dance from 10 to 200 communities, with 600 instructors reaching 20,000 participants, expanded partners from six to over 100, and provided actionable data to refine and scale the program further.
