(ISC)2, a global nonprofit with 150,000 information security professionals in 175 countries, launched the Professional Development Institute (PDI) to keep members current on rapidly evolving cybersecurity threats. With a small staff and an aggressive timeline, the organization needed a robust, scalable, self-directed learning program that could be easily managed and accessed by its worldwide membership.

Working with D2L’s Brightspace, (ISC)2 used data-driven design, Course Builder, Intelligent Agents and multiple integrations to streamline course creation, automate learner nudges and cut bulk enrollment time from four hours to one. The PDI delivered nearly 100,000 enrollments, raised the share of members taking at least one course to 27% (from 13%), boosted course completion to 33% (up 25 percentage points) and achieved learner satisfaction scores of 92–99%.
