Irish Deaf Society - Customer Case Study

The Irish Deaf Society, which supports Deaf and hard-of-hearing learners in Ireland, needed a more inclusive digital learning approach that could replace its Dublin-centric, in-person model and better serve Irish Sign Language users. After relying on a mix of systems and ad hoc video tools, the organisation sought a user-friendly platform from D2L Brightspace to create a more visual learning experience and expand access beyond local classes.

D2L Brightspace helped the Irish Deaf Society launch a phased digital learning rollout, standardising course delivery, centralising data, and automating reminders with Intelligent Agents to reduce administrative workload. The results included expanded reach to learners in countries such as the US, Australia, Spain, Canada and the UK, a library of about 400 vocabulary videos, 31 courses for more than 245 learners by autumn 2023, and 90% of learners saying the platform was easy to use.
