How the Canadian Marketing Association partnered with D2L to launch the first designation for Canadian marketers, helping learners thrive in their careers

The Canadian Marketing Association needed a way to help marketers keep pace with rapid industry change and build the broad skills required for senior roles, while also creating a formal professional designation for the sector. It partnered with D2L Brightspace to launch the new Chartered Marketer (CM) designation, giving learners flexible access to training that fits around full-time work.

With support from D2L Brightspace, the CMA built a five-course program with structured competencies, assignments, quizzes, video submissions, and both synchronous and asynchronous learning. The result was the first professional designation for Canadian marketers, with more than 275 learners having received or applied for it and 125 currently working toward it; many learners have also reported promotions and greater responsibilities.
