A D2L Brightspace Case Study
Universidade Tiradentes (Unit), a 50‑year pioneer in education and early adopter of online courses, needed a more flexible digital learning environment after its proprietary LMS limited faculty workflow, content creation, and student engagement. The university sought a solution that would personalize learning paths, automate administrative tasks, and give educators freedom to develop meaningful, natively digital courses.
By migrating to the Brightspace platform and partnering with D2L, Unit enabled native content creation, a centralized repository, personalized release conditions/Intelligent Agents, and a custom “Coordination Room” for student‑coordinator communication. Within six months 20,000 students were using Brightspace, 70% of users reported satisfaction (up from 50%), student pass rates improved, faculty workflow and collaboration were optimized, and Unit plans to expand Brightspace to all 30,000 students.
