A D2L Brightspace Case Study
Silkwood School, a 595‑student independent school in the Gold Coast Hinterland, prepares learners for university and work by combining classroom learning with community internships and traineeships. Because many seniors split time between school and workplace, the school needed a user‑friendly learning-management system that would keep students engaged, support parents and mentors, and let students continue learning wherever they are.
Silkwood implemented D2L’s Brightspace as a single, accessible hub for coursework, portfolios and teacher feedback, including audio and video commenting to suit different learning styles. The platform boosted student engagement, sped up feedback and helped students build strong portfolios for university and employment; for example, an international student significantly improved his English, passed Year 12 and is on track to graduate.
