Georgia Gwinnett College - Customer Case Study

Georgia Gwinnett College needed to close a gap in its educator preparation program: preservice teachers were using D2L Brightspace as students, but they weren’t being trained to teach online or use the LMS to support digital learning as future educators. In 2016, the college launched the Technology Integration Project (TIP) with D2L Brightspace to build online-teaching skills, TPACK knowledge, and confidence in designing technology-enabled instruction.

D2L Brightspace supported the program through sandbox access, community resources, and online seminars that modeled best practices for course design, feedback, grading, and student engagement. The results were strong: among 175 surveyed graduates, 95% said they could select technologies that improve teaching and learning, and 92% said they could lead others in using technology, content, and teaching approaches. The project also increased technology self-efficacy and helped graduates transition more easily into online teaching roles.
