Gardening for the Globe

Longwood Gardens, a premier U.S. botanical garden founded in 1906 with a strong education mission and more than 1.5 million annual visitors, sought to scale its programs beyond on‑site audiences. The challenge was to reach a global community with an immediate, compelling online learning experience and open courses that anyone could access anytime.

Partnering with D2L, Longwood launched a D2L learning platform—plus D2L Capture and Creative Services—to create a seamless elearning site, webcast seminars, and build open online courses. The effort attracted 5,500 learners to a single open course in 12 weeks, extended access to worldwide audiences, and provided flexible tools and engagement data to shape future programming.
