A D2L Brightspace Case Study
Minas Energy, the Nova Scotia–based energy division of Minas Basin Pulp and Power, needed a way to package decades of hands-on renewable-energy expertise into an engaging online program. The company wanted to help organizations and communities assess, design and finance renewable projects, create a new education-based revenue stream, and fill a market gap around the business and project-delivery side of renewables—not just the technical details.
Minas partnered with D2L, using the Brightspace platform and D2L’s Learning & Creative Services to develop 13 interactive modules featuring discussion boards, quizzes, animated videos, infographics, site-selection maps, stakeholder-mapping activities and financial calculators. Piloted with Dalhousie students and receiving positive feedback, the program launched as a scalable certification offering that boosts learner engagement, opens doors to university and municipal partnerships, and helps communities and companies make renewable projects financially and socially viable.
