Empowering educators with community-focused learning

The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) needed to help thousands of teachers quickly pivot to effective online instruction during the COVID-19 pandemic while scaling certification and bite-sized professional learning without losing engagement or community connection. The challenge was delivering personalized, competency-based learning at scale and keeping educators connected for ongoing peer learning.

ISTE implemented D2L Brightspace (Core) with features like Discussions, Release Conditions, Intelligent Agents and a Bongo integration to personalize pathways and foster community. The result: more than 25,000 educators upskilled at the pandemic’s peak (30,000+ learners overall), higher course completion rates through individualized experiences, and sustained professional learning communities that continue after courses and certifications end.
