Case Study: Saint Stephen’s College achieves around-the-clock learning engagement with D2L Brightspace

Creating a learning experience that never stops

Saint Stephen’s College, a K–12 school on Australia’s Gold Coast with 1,300 students and 120 faculty, found its Computer Studies program taught “to the middle” and suffering from inconsistent teacher familiarity with course content. With a small IT team of three, the school needed an LMS to support more personalized, flexible instruction.

Director of eLearning Peter West developed course tutorials and implemented Brightspace to create a blended-learning environment where students can skip ahead or repeat material at their own pace. Usage quickly spiked—65% of Year 12 students and nearly half of other students logged in on a single Sunday—and learners now access Brightspace around the clock, improving engagement without adding technology overhead.
