A D2L Brightspace Case Study
Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu, New Zealand’s largest school serving 23,000 learners, needed to modernize its paper-based correspondence courses into engaging online distance education. The challenge was to move online without adding friction that could disengage students who are often geographically isolated and rarely meet teachers face-to-face, while still building strong teacher–student connections.
Te Kura adopted D2L’s Brightspace, using video assignments, Quick Eval and an integrated platform design, and worked directly with D2L product teams to tailor the experience. The result was a seamless transition to online delivery: teachers identify language and literacy needs earlier via video, grading time is reduced, and students access everything in one environment—improving engagement and connection across distance.
