Bishop Hall Charter School is transforming students’ lives through flexible online learning

Bishop Hall Charter School is a public alternative K–12 school in Thomasville, Georgia, founded to serve a “last chance” population of students who struggle in traditional classrooms. Facing low local graduation rates and limited two-way online interaction, the school needed a true blended learning approach to give high-risk students flexible, personalized pathways to complete coursework and stay on track to graduate.

Bishop Hall implemented D2L’s Brightspace blended learning solution, paired with Georgia Virtual School curricula, Chromebooks for students, and targeted staffing support to deliver adaptive, individualized learning paths and stronger teacher–student communication. As a result, Thomas County’s graduation rate rose from the mid‑60s to 84%, and Bishop Hall’s graduation rate increased from 20% to 55.6%, with improved student engagement and growing teacher ownership of curriculum.
