A D2L Brightspace Case Study

20,000 students enjoy a more personalised, engaging learning experience

TU Delft, home to 20,000 students and scientists across eight faculties, needed to replace a 17-year-old legacy learning management system with a modern platform that could support digital exams, strong integrations, and a more intuitive user experience. After piloting several systems, TU Delft found that existing options did not meet its requirements, especially for mathematical exam content and integration with tools like FeedbackFruits. D2L Brightspace was selected for its innovation, flexible approach, and fit with TU Delft’s educational vision.

D2L Brightspace implemented a phased migration, starting with a test rollout in the Industrial Design faculty and then expanding across the university. The transition went smoothly, with 2,000 students and 150 professors in the first faculty moving successfully to Brightspace, and full rollout planned for all courses and subjects by September 2018. The new platform enabled more personalized, engaging learning and made it easier for instructors to design courses, create content, and grade assignments, while also improving access to online, blended, and competency-based learning.
