A D-Link Case Study
Sir John Gleed School faced the challenge of running two separate networks after becoming a single school in 2012: a 10 Gigabit network for the Girls’ School and a slower 1 Gigabit backbone for the Boys’ School. This created uneven user experiences, frequent loopback-related outages in the Boys’ School, and extra work for the IT team as the school expanded its ICT suites. To address this, the school turned to D-Link.
D-Link implemented a unified network using DGS-6600 chassis switches and DGS-3420 xStack managed switches. The result was a more reliable, future-proof, IPv6-compliant infrastructure with loopback detection that reduced IT headaches and improved fail-safe performance. Staff and pupils can now stream and download multimedia smoothly from either building, and the stronger wireless network also supports laptop-based assisted learning.
