A D-Link Case Study
Firefly, supporting Pangborn Memorial Airport, needed to refresh an aging network to handle new services like VoIP phones, IP-based TV, access control, parking kiosks, and IP surveillance. The existing Cisco environment was constrained by 100 Mbps switching, creating slow and unreliable performance. D-Link provided the networking and surveillance foundation needed for a stronger, more robust airport network.
Firefly implemented D-Link managed Layer 2 switches at the network core and light-managed switches on the perimeter, along with D-Link IP cameras and Video Insights software for airport-wide surveillance. The upgraded network improved speed, reliability, and security coverage, while the cameras captured high-quality evidence in an after-hours vandalism incident. The airport also planned to add at least three more D-Link cameras within 12 months, further expanding its security footprint.
