D-Link Helps Grundy County Evolve its Network From Primitive to Preeminent

Grundy County, Illinois, needed a stronger, more diverse IT infrastructure to connect its five buildings and 18 departments and ensure continuity of government during crises and electrical storms. Working with D-Link, the county sought a cost-effective alternative to its existing SMC setup and a comparable feature set to Cisco, including support for managed networks and VLAN stacking.

D-Link implemented an interconnected network built around xStack DXS-3250 Layer 2 switches, DWS-1008 switches, and DWS-3024 24-port PoE Wireless-Ready switches, with licensed microwave relay backed by fiber and rapid failover. The result was a highly affordable, reliable backbone with improved wireless speed and resilience, giving Grundy County the capacity to support extra network needs such as a recent election and better prepare for future emergencies.
