A D-Link Case Study
Charles Darwin School, a large secondary school in Kent with 1,300–1,400 pupils, was struggling with network performance as demand grew. Hundreds of pupils logging on at once and 54 CCTV cameras sharing the same network ring were creating bottlenecks, prompting the school to upgrade its infrastructure with D-Link networking equipment.
D-Link implemented a new core switch solution using the DES-7200, along with Gigabit switches and PoE switches for wireless support. The result was a dramatic improvement in network access, with workstation logon times cut to just 30–60 seconds and the CCTV traffic moved to a separate infrastructure so it no longer affected data network performance.
