Budapest Tram Line Upgrades to Remote Monitoring System with D-Link

The Centre for Budapest Transport (BKK) worked with D-Link to upgrade the infrastructure of tram Line 1 in Budapest and needed a modern remote monitoring system to protect the new investment, improve passenger information, and strengthen prevention of damage and illegal activity. The project required better intervention capabilities and reliable evidence collection for investigating authorities.

D-Link implemented an IP-based surveillance solution using 88 DCS-6314 Full HD WDR varifocal day/night outdoor dome network cameras and 5 DCS-6210 outdoor Full HD vandal-resistant mini fixed dome cameras for elevator monitoring, integrated with the NETAVIS VMS system. As a result, BKK can monitor the line in real time, respond quickly to emergencies, use two-way audio to issue warnings, and direct rescue teams remotely; the PoE-based setup also made the system scalable and easier to expand.
