CARFAX Selects Data Center for Web Hosting and Redundancy

CARFAX, the leading U.S. provider of vehicle history reports that delivers about 2 billion reports and search results per year (roughly 40–50 per second), faced an IT scalability and flexibility challenge: its legacy private data centers in Columbia, MO could no longer support rapid growth or fast-paced infrastructure changes. The company needed a more modular, distributed architecture and a colocation partner that could quickly accommodate reconfigurations and scale.

CARFAX selected CyrusOne and deployed pod-based IT footprints across four CyrusOne data centers (Texas, Arizona and Northern Virginia), plus a small retained presence in its own facilities. Using CyrusOne’s National Internet Exchange and onsite partners for DCIM and “remote hands,” CARFAX gained coast‑to‑coast redundancy (each footprint handling about one-third of traffic), lower latency through geographic routing, simplified bandwidth management with redundant carriers, and a more responsive, scalable platform to support customer-facing products and internal systems.
