Slido sees 10X increase in weekly releases with Cypress

Slido, a real-time Q&A and polling platform used at thousands of live events, faced a bottleneck: their QA team had little to no JavaScript experience and relied on slow, manual tests while development accelerated (with frequent refactors and a migration to Angular). After struggling with Selenium, Slido adopted Cypress—using the Cypress Test Runner and Dashboard—to quickly begin automating end-to-end tests and keep pace with rapid releases.

Using Cypress and its sample files and docs, Slido built a repository, CI pipelines, custom commands, Mailosaur email checks, LaunchDarkly feature‑flag tests, and Slack-triggered runs. The results with Cypress were dramatic: 674 automated E2E tests, 100% coverage of crucial user stories, ~85% feature test coverage, a 24x faster test execution rate, and a 10x increase in weekly releases (enabling daily releases), allowing faster, safer development and earlier regression detection.
