Case Study: Fundación Capital scales coach training to 10,000+ families with MATRIX by CYPHER Learning

Creating an innovative course that helps the extremely poor become resilient

Fundación Capital is an NGO that co‑developed an entrepreneurship and resilience program with the Government of Colombia, piloted with 1,000 families and later adopted as public policy. As the initiative expanded to 10,000 families (with a planned reach of 25,000), Fundación Capital needed to scale training cost‑effectively, increase the number of coaches, and maintain quality control—so they selected the MATRIX learning management system from CYPHER Learning to deliver online and peer‑to‑peer courses.

CYPHER Learning’s MATRIX provided an asynchronous, mobile‑friendly LMS with forums for peer‑to‑peer learning, tutor support, easy content import, and a simple, user‑friendly interface; the vendor’s responsive support also ensured quick issue resolution. Using MATRIX, coaches in remote areas accessed training via PC, tablet, or smartphone, helping Fundación Capital move from a 1,000‑family pilot to a 10,000‑family government roll‑out (with plans for 25,000), improve program design and quality control, and expand the approach to other countries.
