Case Study: Maddie’s Million Pet Challenge achieves 82 NPS and 80%+ completion rates with CYPHER Learning

Building personalized, interactive courses that 94% of users found easy to navigate

Maddie’s Million Pet Challenge, part of the Koret Shelter Medicine Program at UC Davis, needed a scalable way to deliver modern, engaging training for animal shelter professionals. As enrollment and course offerings grew, the team needed a centralized, user-friendly platform to manage learner progress, support compliance, and provide professional development in a field where structured frontline training is often limited. CYPHER Learning was the vendor used.

Using the CYPHER Learning platform, Maddie’s Million Pet Challenge launched its Shelter Care Specialist certification program and built interactive, learner-centered courses with multimedia, knowledge checks, collaboration tools, and personalized support from coaches and TAs. The results were strong: more than 1,300 applications in under three months, completion rates rose from around 60% to 80%+, and the program achieved an NPS of 82, with 94% of users saying the courses were easy to navigate and year-over-year applications increasing by about 200%.
