Santa Barbara Unified School District, one of California’s oldest school districts, needed an LMS that teachers and students would actually enjoy using, was easy to use, and fit within budget. A key challenge was driving adoption without forcing it, while also overcoming resistance to change from teachers used to existing tools and workflows.

The district implemented CYPHER Learning as a voluntary, districtwide LMS and digital hub for teaching, learning, resources, and communication. CYPHER Learning helped standardize grading with rubrics, improve student intervention by letting staff track progress across classes, and increase collaboration among teachers; the result was broad teacher buy-in and a culture shift where CYPHER became the district’s go-to platform, with teachers now relying on it heavily across all learning activities.
