Case Study: Phoenix Children’s Hospital strengthens endpoint protection with CylancePROTECT

A Cylance Case Study

Phoenix Children’s Hospital - Customer Case Study

Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Arizona’s only children’s hospital recognized by U.S. News & World Report’s Best Children’s Hospitals with rankings in all ten specialties, needed stronger protection for 5,000 endpoints across its hospital and more than 20 clinics. Its existing antivirus tool reported that all endpoints were safe, which raised concerns for CISO Daniel Shuler and the IT security team because the devices stored and processed PHI and payment data subject to HIPAA and PCI-DSS requirements. The hospital selected CylancePROTECT after evaluating host-based AV options.

Cylance first ran in a one-month proof of concept on 100 machines, where it identified new endpoint malicious activity, including a video plug-in packaged with a potentially unwanted program on multiple machines. Phoenix Children’s then worked with Cylance’s ThreatZERO consulting team during a two-month transition to full protection across all endpoints, and CylancePROTECT later identified and prevented a ransomware attack that could have locked up sensitive patient and payment data.
