How NAFECO Improves Work-in-Process System with CYBRA’s RFID Software Application

NAFECO, a Decatur, Alabama–based leader in protective apparel and safety equipment for firefighters and first responders, faced difficulty tracking thousands of highly customized uniforms through work orders. Although NAFECO already used VAI S2k with CYBRA Corporation’s MarkMagic for labeling, barcode-based scanning required individual item scans, making it slow and error-prone to locate rush orders and monitor work-in-process.

CYBRA Corporation implemented its RFID software application, integrating S2k data and adding RFID fields to MarkMagic labels, encoding tags and deploying RFID scanners with Geiger-counter search capability. Scanning a rack of items dropped from about three–four minutes to a few seconds, inventory accuracy rose to near 100%, cycle counts can be run without stopping operations, and specific orders can be located in seconds — enabling NAFECO to expand RFID across more of its operations.
