How Albany Medical Center Monitors Medications with CYBRA’s MarkMagic Barcoding Software

Albany Medical Center, a 631-bed tertiary care hospital, needed to improve medication reconciliation and enable bedside barcode scanning without modifying its existing McKesson Series applications. To meet this challenge they engaged CYBRA Corporation and deployed MarkMagic Forms Software with the PrintMonitor add-on to add barcodes to existing forms and modernize medication labeling workflows.

CYBRA Corporation implemented MarkMagic and PrintMonitor to monitor McKesson output queues and dynamically print 1,800 Medication Administration Record (MAR) forms per day across 27 print stations, while automatically producing patient ID barcode labels on Zebra printers. The team also converted old dot-matrix IV labels to barcode labels in minutes, replacing outdated printers and automating label printing—delivering measurable throughput (1,800 MARs/day, 27 monitored stations) and stronger medication-safety controls.
