A Cybertrol Engineering Case Study

Preview of the Major Meat Processing Plant Case Study

a major meat processing plant upgrades its 1980s retort system with Cybertrol Engineering in around-the-clock cutover

Cybertrol Engineering was engaged by a major meat processing plant to upgrade the obsolete controls on its continuous canned meat retort and conveying system. The system was critical as it processed all product for worldwide distribution, making minimizing downtime for the upgrade essential. The challenge was significant due to the system's age, having been originally installed in the 1980s with no updated documentation, a confusing mess of wiring, and reliance on a single retiring expert.

Cybertrol Engineering designed and built an entirely new PLC/HMI control system. They meticulously documented the existing cabinet, created a detailed cut-over plan, and worked around the clock with the client to install the new system during a shutdown. The solution was a huge success; the new system runs effectively and features user-friendly HMI interfaces that allow new operators to easily learn the process. The properly documented software and drawings now enable quick and easy maintenance.
