Seton Hall University - Customer Case Study

Seton Hall University, a multi‑campus institution with more than 10,000 students and over a thousand staff and faculty, faced a high risk of ransomware and advanced attacks amid a small IT security team and an open academic environment. To gain visibility and control without hampering academic freedom, Seton Hall adopted Cybereason, deploying it across on‑prem and cloud servers as well as employee, faculty, and student machines to reduce alert volume and support a student-run Security Operations Center.

Seton Hall put Cybereason through a head‑to‑head comparison with CrowdStrike and reported that Cybereason stopped all tested Trojans and ransomware in their trials. Using Cybereason’s MalOp workflow, nontechnical student workers were trained in under a week to triage incidents, allowing a single full‑time security architect to scale response, quickly pivot to malicious indicators, view the full kill chain and root cause, and turn the student SOC into a value‑generating program—demonstrating faster detection, easier remediation, and reduced operational burden.
