A Cyberbit Case Study
The University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) partnered with Cyberbit in 2019 to launch the Maine Cyber Range to strengthen its cybersecurity education and increase the number of job‑ready graduates entering the workforce. UMA’s challenge was to provide hyper‑realistic, hands‑on SOC simulation and large‑scale training that in‑house labs or light “gamified” solutions could not deliver, so students and regional practitioners would confront full attack scenarios and incident‑response workflows.
Cyberbit delivered its Cyberbit Range live cyberattack simulator and a Train‑the‑Trainer program, which UMA integrated into its B.Sc. and new M.S. programs and into industry training offerings. Using Cyberbit Range, UMA now trains over 300 enrolled students (including out‑of‑state learners), expanded course offerings into incident response and network forensics, positioned itself as Maine’s regional cybersecurity hub, increased enrollment and retention, and scaled workforce and professional upskilling across New England.
