Building Wales’ Cybersecurity Ecosystem Empowering the Future Cyber Workforce with Cyberbit

Cyber College Cymru (CCC), which spans Merthyr Tydfil, Coleg Gwent, Bridgend, Cardiff and Vale, faced a pressing regional and national cybersecurity skills gap: students needed more real‑world exposure to be job‑ready for Wales’ fast‑growing tech sector. To address this, CCC partnered with Cyberbit and adopted the Cyberbit platform and LiveFire cyber range to bring ultra‑realistic Security Operations Center (SOC) training into its curriculum.

Cyberbit’s immersive cyber range and LiveFire challenges were integrated into CCC’s Level 3 BTEC program, letting students practice incident response with industry tools such as Splunk and Palo Alto Networks in simulated attacks. The initiative trains over 160 students per year, sees 80% of participants progress to specialist higher‑education pathways, and has led to hires at employers including Thales, Admiral, Dwr Cymru and Bridewell — accelerating workforce readiness, reducing time to productivity, and helping close Wales’ cyber skills gap.
