U.S. education authority set to deliver business-class identity security

Chico Unified School District, which serves 21 schools, 12,000 students and more than 23,000 devices, needed a better way to manage privileged access with a small IT team and many third-party vendors. The district had previously relied on VDI and VPN for remote access, and worked with CyberArk to strengthen identity security across its critical infrastructure.

CyberArk implemented the CyberArk Identity Security Platform, including CyberArk Privilege Cloud and CyberArk Vendor Privileged Access Manager, to centralize and automate privileged access management. The result was password-less, VPN-less vendor access, tighter control over access hours, automated password rotation, and stronger evidence for security audits, with privileged accounts now protected in a vault and the district better able to safeguard students and staff.
