New Zealand Agricultural Organization leverages Single Sign-On to Improve its Security Posture

New Zealand Avocado Growers Association (NZ Avocado) is the public face of the $130M New Zealand avocado industry, supporting research, compliance and market access for more than 1,350 growers. The organization struggled with multiple legacy apps (like a Spray Diary and AvoTools) that each required separate credentials—often one per orchard—leading to dozens of passwords per user, widespread password sharing, frequent help-desk requests and no formal IT department to manage it.

NZ Avocado engaged consultant Andrew Nimick and implemented CyberArk Identity SSO to fit into existing infrastructure, support legacy apps and enable SAML-based government integrations—at a lower cost than building an in-house LDAP solution. The rollout eliminated password sharing, made access auditable with unique user identities, reduced support overhead, and successfully drove adoption among nontechnical users while establishing stronger, widely accepted security practices.
