A CyberArk Case Study
A major North American insurance company (>$25B revenue, >25,000 employees) set out to containerize thousands of applications on Red Hat OpenShift using DevOps practices but faced a critical security challenge: containerized apps required secrets (passwords, tokens, SSH keys) to access databases and services, and hard‑coded credentials in code or repos risked data theft, operational friction, and slowed delivery. The security team needed a way to remove secrets from code, centrally control credentials across hybrid and cloud environments, and preserve developer productivity.
The insurer deployed CyberArk Application Access Manager (Conjur) as a centralized secrets management solution, integrated with ServiceNow for self‑service developer access. The platform securely authenticates containerized apps, rotates and audits secrets by policy, and provides access to Oracle, DB2 and MS SQL Server; this enabled secure access at scale (1+ million secrets/day), accelerated time‑to‑market, reduced risk, and freed development teams to focus on core functionality.
