Erste Group implements PAM to enhance security and compliance

Erste Digital, the IT services arm of Erste Group Bank, supports critical banking systems for about 2,200 users across more than 10 countries and is responsible for the bank’s SWIFT infrastructure. Faced with hundreds of privileged users, long SWIFT certificate passwords, systems not compatible with SSO, and the need to comply with SWIFT’s Customer Security Controls Framework, the team struggled with cumbersome, manual password management and limited visibility into privileged activity.

Working with Bacher Systems, Erste Digital deployed CyberArk Privilege On-Premises to centrally store secrets, automate password rotation, enforce MFA, and leverage real-time threat analytics and session recording. Integration via CyberArk’s REST APIs enabled seamless fit with existing identity tools; the result was reduced manual effort, more frequent and stronger credential rotation, searchable audit trails for SWIFT compliance, and improved detection and response to suspected privileged-user attacks.
