Chugai Pharma combines SSO, MFA and VPN-less remote access to protect its distributed infrastructure

Chugai Pharma Europe, a subsidiary of Japan’s Chugai Pharmaceutical and member of the Roche Group, needed to secure a distributed cloud and on‑premises environment while protecting intellectual property and sensitive patient data from clinical trials. Managing three separate tools for SSO, MFA and EMM with limited IT staff was costly and complex, and the company sought a cloud‑hosted solution that supported mobile device access and on‑prem app protection without heavy VPN dependence.

Chugai selected CyberArk Workforce Identity, whose SSO, MFA, EMM and App Gateway delivered one‑click access to cloud and on‑prem apps (including VPN‑less mobile access), simplified policy enforcement and sped deployment — Office 365 and internal apps were federated and rolled out quickly. The consolidation replaced three costly products, reduced IT strain and licensing costs, improved device management and security (including easier Exchange ActiveSync quarantine workflows), and enabled phased rollouts across Europe and the US.
