Northern Trust, the global financial institution, needed to overhaul local admin access, password control, and privileged access management across 50,000 endpoints without disrupting users. Its legacy approach left only 40% of endpoints meeting password rotation requirements, while compliance, scalability, and security risks were growing. Northern Trust worked with CyberArk and implementation partner SDG Corporation, using the CyberArk Identity Security Platform.

CyberArk implemented a phased rollout of Endpoint Privilege Manager, Privileged Access Manager, Secrets Manager, Certificate Manager, and Code Sign Manager, integrating with ServiceNow, Azure Sentinel, and PowerBI. The result was zero-disruption onboarding of all 50,000 endpoints in 16 days, password rotation compliance improving from 40% to over 95%, managed privileged accounts growing by about 250% to 70,000, and application security coverage increasing by 300%.
