A CVEDIA Case Study
RESOLVE, an international environmental NGO, needed a way to track endangered species and alert authorities to poachers and illegal traders using its TrailGuard AI smart camera system. The challenge was that endangered animals are rarely photographed in the wild, making it extremely difficult to train effective detection models, and the cameras also had severe battery-life limitations that required frequent maintenance.
CVEDIA solved this by building custom computer vision models from synthetic data, including a photorealistic 3D elephant model and simulated field scenarios to train the system. In under three weeks, CVEDIA delivered an intelligent camera application for elephant detection and optimized hardware performance, extending battery life to an expected 7 years; over time, CVEDIA helped RESOLVE deploy more than 20 AI systems across Asia and Africa, improve operational efficiency by 2000%, and increase product battery life by 42x.
