Controlling internet and application usage creates an academic-friendly environment

Tennessee College of Applied Technology Crump faced rising security and classroom-management challenges as it integrated more online resources: students and staff needed protection from malicious links and downloads, and instructors needed to prevent bandwidth-draining distractions like games and YouTube. After evaluating options, the college selected CurrentWare’s BrowseControl to centrally control and filter web and application access across its lab computers.

CurrentWare implemented BrowseControl with a same-day remote installation on all student machines, using a default block-plus-whitelist approach and centralized, real-time permission controls for instructors. The deployment immediately reduced misuse and freed up bandwidth, gave teachers on-the-fly management of classroom access, and created a safer online learning environment that students and staff praised — all achieved without extended downtime or additional support.
