Case Study: City of Carmel Indiana achieves lower energy costs and improved street lighting with Current LED retrofit kits

A Current Case Study

City of Carmel Indiana cuts street light energy costs by 48% with Current

The City of Carmel, Indiana, sought to improve energy efficiency and lighting quality in its downtown decorative streetlights. Facing high energy and maintenance costs from older metal halide and HPS fixtures, the city engaged vendor Current and utilized Beacon Products LED retrofit kits to convert approximately 800 existing luminaires.

Current's solution involved retrofitting the existing post-top fixtures with 90Watt LED kits, chosen for their robust design and ease of installation. This project, assisted by an energy audit from Duke Energy, resulted in an estimated 48% savings in energy costs, reduced greenhouse emissions, and significant maintenance savings. The City of Carmel also gained improved, glare-free illumination for pedestrians and motorists, while streamlining its inventory by eliminating multiple stock-keeping units.
