Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust needed a way to provide care for pregnant women with COVID-19 during the pandemic, as these patients faced increased risks and routine care was disrupted. To address this challenge, the Trust partnered with vendor Current Health to implement a remote monitoring solution.

Using the Current Health platform, the Trust deployed a flexible maternity virtual ward service. The solution enabled the remote monitoring of patients, either intermittently or continuously. This approach provided a safety net for patients, with only 6.6% of those monitored requiring hospital admission. The Current Health implementation also offered reassurance to staff and helped relieve pressure on hospital infrastructure.
