Meeting the demand for virtual ward services

Medway NHS Foundation Trust faced the challenge of increased demand for its virtual ward services due to COVID-19 and winter pressures. The trust needed to maximize hospital capacity and minimize readmissions for patients with chronic conditions while also reducing the risk of virus transmission from in-person home visits. To address this, they partnered with Current Health and its remote monitoring solution.

By implementing Current Health's technology, which included a wearable sensor and tablet for continuous vital sign monitoring and a clinical dashboard, the trust could remotely analyze patient health. This allowed for early intervention via video calls, preventing deteriorations. The solution led to a 26% reduction in hospital readmissions, a 37% reduction in in-person home visits, and 85% of patients being extremely likely to recommend the service.
