Improving Healthcare While Lowering The Overall Cost Of Care

CureMD, a provider of EHR and medical billing solutions, partnered with Carolinas IT to help Craven County Health Department — one of 36 North Carolina counties that migrated off legacy/state systems — address a failing EHR, complex public health reporting requirements, sliding-fee billing needs, and inefficient workflows. County leaders needed a configurable, Meaningful Use–certifiable system that could capture discrete population data, support DHHS clinical forms, and reduce administrative burden without reverting to paper.

CureMD built a customized North Carolina Public Health solution in about three months with minimal disruption, adding discrete data capture, sliding-fee schedules, automated billing, lab/pharmacy/HIE integration, and role-specific training. The rollout streamlined registration and claims processes (claim/ERA handling cut from hours to minutes), reduced accounts receivable from over 60 days to about 30, saved roughly $16,000 in software maintenance, and improved provider and staff satisfaction while meeting state reporting and Meaningful Use objectives.
